| Although I have had German Shepherds before, I didn't expect Sabre to grow up quite so big and boisterous. At 10 months he was getting a real handful for me. His temperament is very good, which is essential to me as Sabre has to be safe around my family including my grandchildren. However, because of his over friendly nature, Sabre would run up to visitors, people and dogs he met outside. He didn't mean any harm when he barked and jumped up, but obviously this behaviour was not acceptable.
Sabre had also got very demanding of my attention in the house and wanted to play all the time. Being a very large and bouncy German Shepherd dog, I felt that unless things changed, I may not be able to keep him. I contacted Phil and he came to see Sabre at home to get to see things for himself. Phil soon taught me how to control his play times and to get him more under control with people, with calm ways that I enjoyed and found interesting. Also we improved him walking on his lead past dogs and coming back to me outside
He now doesn't bother with people and dogs, because he would rather play ball with me. Sabre is a marvellous dog and now much more of a pleasure to own and be proud of. We are even teaching him to swim at hydrotherapy classes. Joan, Ecclesfield Click here to return to case histories |
