Murphy a problem Lurcher

We have three dogs, lurchers, the mother and two of her offspring.  Deejay, the mother a well seasoned and successful agility dog is ready to retire and Eevee, one of the pups is destined to follow in her footsteps.  Eevee was “the chosen one” of Deejay’s litter of eight and was hopefully to be my husband's next agility dog.  Murphy got left and I loved him so he stayed and we were supposed take up agility. At eighteen months old Murphy, I decided, was a “problem” dog. Eevee was doing really well and already doing agility training, Murphy was just giddy with his own agenda with everything I was doing with him. On top of that we hadn’t developed the bond between us that I was expecting. I found this not only upsetting but also frustrating which didn’t help Murphy. Time to call in Phil!

After Phil’s assessment it was clear Murphy had no problems as such, but was just a rebellious “teenager” with no direction or purpose.  It was also clear that the training required was not just going to be aimed at the dog!

A few weeks into our one hour sessions has shown a marvellous improvement in every way – Phil spotted what rocked Murphy’s boat almost immediately and has worked us both to get the most out of him. Murphy is a natural hunter, enjoys nose work and retrieval – all at high speed which Phil enjoys to see.  Murphy’s level of obedience is such that I no longer get nervous with him off lead and Murphy and I are more of a team than ever.’
